Wisdom from St. Barsanuphius of Optina
Great Lent Begins Monday, March 2

Life is blessedness, and not simply because we believe in blessed eternity, but here on earth life can be blessed if we live with Christ, fulfilling His holy commandments.  If a man is not tied to earthly goods, but will in all things rely on the will of God, will live for Christ and in Christ, then life here on earth will become blessed.

"Never, never, never let anyone tell you that, in order to be Orthodox, you must be Eastern. The West was fully Orthodox for a thousand years, and her venerable liturgy is far older than any of her heresies."

- St. John Maximovitch

These days one of the things people are most interested in is 'authenticity'.  Throughout the Christian orbit people keep reinventing Christianity to make it more authentic.  What would your response be if you could actually participate in a truly authentic Christian Tradition which truly dates back to Jesus Christ and HIs Apostles and has been  unchanged for millennia?  Authenticity means that you can trust that what you are receiving is reliable because its truth has stood the test of time and prevailed.  Orthodox Christianity has stood that test of time.  The truth of the reality of a new life in Christ is not simply a cliché , it has been lived by countless Christians throughout the ages.  Why not come and see?

We are an Orthodox mission  in the Reno, Sparks and Carson City area, specifically oriented to American people seeking the fullness of the Catholic, Orthodox Christian Tradition .
